A man from Stafford has been jailed for encouraging terrorism and sharing terrorism material.

Ivan Jennings shared material expressing far-right views on social media.

After pleading guilty at an early hearing in May to encouragement of terrorism and disseminating terrorism materials, the 46-year-old has been jailed for five years and three months.

Jennings was arrested in a pre-planned operation in November 2024, his home and workplace were searched.

Officers seized far-right paraphernalia, flags and electronic devices. Searches of his laptop and phone found that Jennings had posted videos promoting a proscribed organisation and a number of violent videos.

Detective Chief Superintendent Alison Hurst, head of Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands, said: “I hope the fact that he is now serving a prison sentence sends a clear message that extreme far-right views and promoting serious violence is completely unacceptable in our society and it simply will not be tolerated.

“We and our partners in the security services, and policing nationally, continue to work day and night to protect the public against the threat of terrorism.
