Southport attacker Axel Rudakubana has been charged with multiple assaults on prison staff at HMP Belmarsh.

He was charged on Tuesday 28 July and will appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court via videolink on Friday, 11 September.

The teenager has been charged with assault on an emergency worker on Tuesday, 6 May, 2025; attempted grievous bodily harm on Thursday, 8 May, 2025; unauthorised possession of an offensive weapon in prison on Thursday, 26 June, 2025; assault on an emergency worker on Tuesday, 28 October, 2025.

Rudakubana was sentenced to life in prison in January 2025 after murdering three girls and injuring several others at a dance class in Southport in July 2024.

He was moved to a secure psychiatric hospital earlier this month.
