Mayor of London makes statement on anniversary of Fishmongers' Hall attack

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has released a statement on the third anniversary of the Fishmongers' Hall Terror attack on 29 November 2019.

Saskia Jones and Jack Merritt were killed in the attack on London Bridge.

The attacker Usman Khan, had been released from prison on licence after serving a sentence for terrorist offences and was attending an offender rehabilitation conference. He was wearing a fake suicide vest and stabbed several people during the attack.

Khan said: “Today marks three years since the abhorrent terrorist attack at Fishmongers’ Hall, in which Saskia Jones and Jack Merritt lost their lives. They will forever be in our thoughts, as will the bravery of our emergency services and the Londoners who put themselves in danger to help others.

“Those who seek to divide us and destroy our way of life in London will never succeed.

“I’m determined to continue working with communities, partners and the police to counter the threat from terrorism and ensure that no stone is left unturned in doing everything possible to keep Londoners safe.”
