UN Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee to hold meeting on emerging technology

The United Nations Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC) is set to hold a special meeting on new and emerging technologies.

The meeting is scheduled for 28 October in Mumbai and 29 October in New Delhi.

According to the CTC, with the rise of digitisation, the use of new and emerging technologies to counter terrorism is of growing interest to Member States and policymakers, in particular, the increasing role of technology in terrorism and counter-terrorism.

CTC said: "Mindful of the increasing threat posed by the misuse of new and emerging technologies, the United Nations Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee has decided to hold a Special Meeting on this theme, with the support of its Executive Directorate (CTED)."
