New York subway shooter to plead guilty to terrorism charges

The man accused of a shooting attack on the New York City subway in April is expected to plead guilty to federal terrorism charges.

Through his public defenders, Frank James told the court that he intended to plead guilty.

The morning rush hour attack on a Manhattan-bound N-train injured 23 people. James let off a smoke canister in a subway car and shot at passengers with a handgun. He then fled and was arrested about five miles away after a 30-hour manhunt.

James faces 10 counts of a terrorist attack and other violence against a mass transportation system and faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
