Six police officers killed in ISIS attack in Iraq

According to a military source, six Iraqi police officers have been killed, and seven others injured in an ISIS attack on Wednesday morning in a remote area 140 kilometres north of Baghdad.

The anonymous source quoted by Iraqi News said that 10 to 15 ISIS members in three vehicles attacked a security checkpoint where federal police officers were stationed.

The attack took place in the Al Jalam region of Salah ad Din province, where some ISIS cells still remain active.

According to Iraqi News, the Iraq Security Media Cell (ISMC) has announced that a high-ranking security delegation have travelled to the area to investigate the attack. The delegation includes the Chief of Staff of the Army, the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, the Commander of the Federal Police Forces and the Commander of the Ground Forces. They have pledged to hold those involved in the terrorist attack accountable.
