Terror threat lowered as police question suspects

The UK terror threat level has been lowered to severe as police continue to question two men in relation to the recent Parsons Green station tube attack. An 18-year-old, arrested in Dover, and a 21-year-old, arrested in West London, are being held over the explosion, which injured 30 at Parsons Green station. CCTV images appearing to show a man carrying a Lidl supermarket bag 90 minutes before the bombing. At least three addresses are also being searched in relation to the attacks. The UK terror threat level has been lowered from critical to severe, meaning that an attack is no longer imminent but still highly likely. Home Secretary Amber Rudd claimed that ‘good progress’ had been made in the investigation, with the Metropolitan Police’s Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley saying that the investigation will continue at ‘high pace’.
