Terrorists moved to new prison due to staff shortages

Hashem Abedi, the brother of the Manchester Arena bomber, and other terrorists have moved prison, after one of the three specialist "separation" units designed to prevent them radicalising other inmates was shut due to staff shortages.

The inmates who have been moved have been transferred to a separation unit at HMP Full Sutton in East Yorkshire.

The temporary closure of the separation unit at HMP Woodhill in Milton Keynes was confirmed by the Ministry of Justice on Wednesday.

The unit is designed to keep serious terrorist offenders and hate preachers away from other inmates to stop them spreading their message.

The temporary closure means that specialist officers in the prison can move to guarding other category A prisoners at the prison. There are fears of unrest and increased violence in the prison due to staff shortages.

A report by HM chief inspector of prisons found that 40 per cent of the staff had less than two years' experience and were struggling to contain violence.
