Counter Terrorism Police investigating attempted murder in West Midlands hotel

Counter Terrorism Police are carrying out enquiries after a man was stabbed at a hotel in Hindlip, near Worcester on Tuesday.

Police were called to the Pear Tree Inn at around 1.30 pm on Tuesday after a 25-year-old man was attacked. He was taken to hospital with a chest and hand wound. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, and he is currently in a stable condition.

A 31-year-old man was originally arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and has since been rearrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands are leading the investigation, due to the circumstances surrounding the attack.

West Mercia Police local policing Assistant Chief Constable, Grant Wills, said: “It is important we fully understand the circumstances of this incident and are working with colleagues at Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands as part of the investigation.

“We understand incidents of this nature can be concerning to our local communities and I would like to reiterate that a man has been arrested and we do not believe there is a wider risk to the public.
