Girl, 17, in court on terror charge

A teenage girl has appeared in court charged with terror offences after allegedly communicating with a so-called Islamic State fighter. The girl allegedly contacted a fighter in Syria to arrange to receive weapons in order to carry out an attack in the UK. She is also accused of receiving guidance on how to use weapons. The teenager, from London, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, where she was remanded in custody, and is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey in August. She was previously charged in April for preparing terrorist acts after planning to travel to Syria.
