Londoners Alexanda Kotey and Aine Davis have ben identified as associates of Mohammed Emwazi, also known as ‘Jihadi John’, and were part of the ISIL cell that oversaw the beheading of western hostages in Syria, according to reports from the Guardian. The two have been confirmed as members of the ISIL cell that has been nicknamed ‘the Beatles’ and participated in ISIL propaganda videos that depicted the beheading of victims including British aid workers Alan Henning and David Haines, and the US journalists Steven Sotloff and James Foley. Kotey, 32, is an Islam convert who grew up on west London and has been identified as of Ghanaian and Greek-Cypriot background. Davis, 31, is also from west London and known to be drug dealer who travelled to Syria in 2013. Emwazi, Davis and Kotey are all though to have attended the al-Manaar mosque in Westbourne Park, London. Davis was detained in Turkey last November on suspicion of planning attacks in Instanbul and the whereabouts of Kotey are currently unknown. The Home Office has not yet confirmed or denied that these two were members of Emwazi’s group, but the Guardian claims to have independently verified the names.
