Keeping safe, not scared
In today’s world of uncertainty, our infrastructure plays a large part in keeping both the public and buildings of importance safe and to do this without scaring people or making the area an eyesore is a careful balancing act that government authorities and associated agencies are constantly thinking about.
With this in mind, Marshalls CPM have introduced their Redi-Rock™ hostile vehicle mitigation walling (Vehicle Security Barriers – VSB) which is BSi PAS 68 certified.
BSi PAS 68 is one of the latest publicly available specifications for vehicle security barriers and has become the UK’s standard and security industry’s benchmark for hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) systems.
The Marshalls CPM Redi-Rock™ hostile vehicle mitigation walling, also known as vehicle security barriers (VSB) is an effective, re-usable solution to perimeter hostile vehicle attack and is ideal for utility and critical infrastructure, buildings of high importance, military facilities, crowded places, civil/nuclear installations and transport hubs as well as public spaces that are often heavily populated, like city centres, museums and event venues, with an integral cable dissipating the kinetic energy of an impacting vehicle the surrounding area remains safe and impact free.
With a look of natural stone the Redi-Rock™ Force Protection system has been successfully tested by the Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) using the BSi specification PAS 68:2007, and achieved a classification of V/7500[N2]/48/90:1.6/0.0.
To achieve this, the freestanding surface mounted concrete blocks systems interconnected with steel cable successfully arrested a 7.5 tonne lorry at impact speed of 48 kmph (30mph) with only 1.6m penetration of the load carrying space.
The Lego™ like system is fast to install with 30m being laid in circa 1.5 hours by 2-3 work people and uses its own weight so there are no ground anchors needed, which is a real bonus to groundworkers, as well as being aesthetically pleasing.
The easy to install, 703kg modular precast concrete blocks can be deployed, or picked up and moved, very quickly, with no ground work required.
