Secure identity key to terrorism prevention

Secure identification of people and vehicles and effective verification of their identities is key to national security and prevention of terrorist attacks. Andrews & Wykeham supply high security turnkey system solutions for personal and vehicle identity. Our personal ID systems are based around high-security ID cards.

Depending on the application and the life cycle required, the cards are manufactured of PVC, Teslin or polycarbonate and use advanced banknote security printing techniques - rainbow printing, anti-copy patterns, UV and infrared fluorescent inks, thermochromic inks, OVI (optically variable inks) - for effective anti-counterfeit and anti-tamper protection. The cards also feature the latest in security holographic technology – images generated by electron-beam lithography with its resolution up to half a million dots per inch which makes it possible to record unique visual features but also very small ‘nanofeatures’ for forensic verification.

Polycarbonate and Teslin cards include HRI (High Refractive Index) holographic images embedded between the layers of the card, while PVC cards are protected from counterfeit and tamper with a full-face overlay (transfer film) or laminate. The cards feature contact or contact-less RFID chips or two-dimensional barcodes as data carriers in order to enable machine-readable functions within the ID system.

The system itself includes a persons register, a data capture solution enabling collection and recording of biometric and other data of a person, an ID card issue solution enabling secure personalisation of ID cards, biometric and verification services providing for an automatic or semi-automatic verification of a person’s ID based on his/her biometric data, and, optionally, biometric access control modules. The system can utilize AFIS (Automatic Finger Print Identification System) technology enabling mobile or desktop automatic verification of a person’s fingerprints. Protecting the system data is key to the security of the entire ID solution. PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) encryption and digital signature technologies are used to protect the access to data and communications within the system.

Vehicle identity is another crucial security issue, as vehicles are often used in terrorist attacks. Andrews & Wykeham provide an integral vehicle identity solution including a vehicle registration system, a holographic RFID windscreen label and HOLOPLATE – a high-security number plate with an embedded holographic device and laser personalisation. The RFID windscreen label with its UHF Gen 2 long-range proximity chip is central, providing machine-readable vehicle identity and an excellent means of access control into parking facilities, restricted and high-security areas.

Andrews & Wykeham is your reliable partner for secure personal and vehicle identity solutions.
